English Teaching and Asia

My dream to return to Asia began in my 18th summer. After traveling around in Asia for a 6 wk period, I knew deep down in my heart that I was going back some way.

I decided just a touristic trip or short stunt wasn’t sufficient for me. The only thing I could think of returning for was to teach English -since domestic work, nursing, and nanny work doesn’t appeal to me. I dreamed about it and wished for this to happen for years.

Finally, while cruising through the internet, I read about  TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I considered taking the class on-line, but never got around to it. Now, I’m so glad I ‘never got around to it.’

One of my cousins told me about a program where you take TESOL training and then fly to Bangladesh for 3 months of teaching. I was excited about the possibility of that, but thought it would be impossible. The doors just seemed to open wide, and here I am now, in PA taking the TESOL class and I leave for Bangladesh in Jan.

God has so overwhelmingly led me each step of the way. I’m very happy for this opportunity, not only to live my dream but to glorify God. I have wanted to return to Asia for so long, but now I realize how PERFECT God’s timing really is. The most exciting thing is, this opens up the doors to endless possibilities!! With my certificate, I can teach English anywhere, and I’m getting practical instructions on how to run a class room in Bangladesh. I’m filled with excitement and can’t wait to see what the next step of the journey is.

So, if you think of me, please pray for me in the coming three months.
